| KEEN AND QUAIFE RACE BRITCAR FOR TEENAGE CANCER TRUST |
|
Phil Quaife and Phil Keen , will compete in next weekend’s BritCar ‘Into the Night’ race at Brands Hatch circuit in Kent and will be racing for the Teenage Cancer Trust, supporting the charity at this event. The race takes place on Saturday 10th November.
Quaife will be sharing driving duties with Phil Keen and the duo will be challenging for victory in this dusk to dark event. The racing starts at 5pm with one and a half hours of racing on the Indy circuit at this popular track. The Quaife/Keen Porsche 997 race car will be emblazoned with Teenage Cancer Trust logos to highlight this worthy cause and raise funds for the charity, which is currently running an appeal to fund a new Cancer unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, Surrey. Quaife says, “I’m looking forward to this next outing. Not only do I get the chance to drive at one of my favourite circuits, I’ll be able to race for a very worthwhile charity. Both Phil and I have friends who have suffered with teenage cancer, so this charity is very special to us and we know how invaluable its work is in this field. It’s a home race at my local track, so I’m hoping that there will be plenty of support from friends and family. I’ve had a great year of racing and this will be a good challenge to end the season – It would be great if Phil and I can be up on the podium on Saturday night! TCT is planning a new Teenage Cancer Trust unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton – a centre of excellence in the region for cancer treatment. Design of the TCT unit will incorporate innovative ideas about space and décor along with state-of-the-art equipment. Building work is scheduled to be completed by 2010 when hopefully the appeal target will have been reached. Each unit costs over £2million and we will be launching this local appeal in 2008. The Royal Marsden TCT unit will provide treatment for teenagers and young adults from Kent, Surrey and Sussex – helping them to fight cancer. |
